This weekend I have been blessed to spend time with one of our favorite Bamboo Babies... Gracie Joy (a.k.a. Gwynne!) She is the daughter of one of my closest friends! She is absolutely precious!!!! Another PRO Baby Is Home With His Forever Family!!!!

A little over one month ago, Ethan became Samuel!!! He is now a long way from Hunan living in the midwest!!! Samuel's family found Pearl River after someone recognized their son's photo from our blog!!! They quickly became sponsors of their precious boy.. And, now he is safely home!!! We are so thankful that another one of our precious Bamboo Babies is with their family!! It has been amazing summer watching these adoptions unfold!!

Samuel now has four siblings!!! Two sisters and two brothers! From what I have heard from his new parents, he is doing great!!!! We are thankful that Changsha #1 placed him into our Pearl River family where he was prepared and loved for this time in his life!!!

Sweet "Lina" from our Hengshan program met her Mama and Baba on Monday in Changsha!!! Jane was sweet to share with us that their new precious daughter, Madie is doing beautifully!!!! Congratulations "H" family!

I have been blessed in the past few months to follow three of our babies as they have been placed into the arms of their new parents. And, each family has shared with me that it was obvious that their child was loved and well cared for by their foster family!!

Zhan Ming Gu (Gabriella) Needs A Family!!

Our precious "Gabriella" from the Children's Welfare Institute of Zhanjiang City in Guangdong was released as a Special Focus child on the shared list last night!

Ming Gu just turned 6 years old. Her birthday is April 28, 2005. Her special need is post-operative cleft lip and palate. Ming Gu is also reported to be physically delayed.

We are praying that a very special family will come forward to give Gabriella the love and patience she deserves. We believe with a loving forever family she will blossom and thrive!

Tragically Ken Ellis was killed on March 29th at the age of 61. His loving family has chosen Pearl River Outreach for donations to be made in Ken's memory! A Fun Day at The Zoo!

Our amazing staff at Changsha #1 is working hard to come up with some fun ideas for the children! Recently they asked us if they could take the children and their foster mothers to the zoo! We thought this was a wonderful idea.. So, at the end of March the group set out on their first adventure!!! It looks like they had a beautiful day. They also celebrated three special birthdays while they were there for "Gwynne, Ethan, and Luke!"

A great big thank you for the "B" family for making this day possible for the children! Most likely this was the first time that our sweet children have ever done something like this!

This precious child has captured a lot of hearts since she joined Pearl River in October, 2010! Many of you inquired about her adoption status since her smile entered our world. Gwynne's best friend, "Heidi" was adopted in the summer and we continued to wait for her to be sharing the same joy in her heart. Monthly we continue to receive photos and updates of this happy girl.

Well I am thrilled to announce that "Gwynne" will never celebrate another birthday without her forever family. Sometime in August or September she will meet her very special Mama, Baba, 3 big brothers and sister! She will be named Gracie Joy, and she is going to be so loved! I have said it before, we are blessed with wonderful sponsors at Pearl River Outreach!

We have a very special family in the Netherlands that have allowed us to make sure our Hengshan babies are toasty and warm this winter! Her foster mother reports that her vocabulary is growing, which is really

allowing her to make her needs known.

She was born on April 20, 2009. Gracie tends to

be shy and to play independently when she is in a group setting

with other children. She is a sweetie!

Precious Gabriella has been with our Zhanjiang program since June, 2008.

She is 5 years old, with a birthdate of April 28, 2005. We continue

to pray that Gabriella will find her family. She is quiet

August was a fantastic month. Many of our Pearl River Babies met their forever families. We said farewell to: Heidi, Caitlin, Ciera, Zach and Liam. Two of our children were adopted domestically! And, two went to Spain, and one to the United States! This is why we do this, to prepare our precious children for their future! We are so happy when they are placed in loving homes!

We Need Two New Sponsors for Zhanjiang Babies!

We have been so blessed with wonderful sponsors for our Bamboo Babies. I wish there was a way to get the entire group together.. It would be a special day!

Recently we have had two spots open up for two of our babies in the Guangdong Province, Caitlin and Aiden.

Caitlin was born on May 1st, 2009. She moved from the orphanage setting to our program on July 20, 2009. In May she was 28" tall, and 17 pounds. As of this visit she was not talking yet, but understands everything. Her Foster Mother stated that she loves her very much!!

Aiden was born on August10th, 2008. As of his May visit he was 31" tall and 21 pounds. His foster mother reports that he is climbing on furniture. He loves to grab objects in his reach. He does not like it when his toys are taken away!! Sounds like a normal two year old to me!!

Look Who is Home!

One of the very best parts of this job is connecting with families after they are home with our Bamboo Babies! I have been blessed to connect with three in the last few months that are home, and one who is about to travel. This is why we do what we do... It is to give these beautiful children the foundation and love they need to thrive with their forever families!

Do you recognize this cutie? Does she look like the little girl on our header second in from the right? YES, it is precious "Kiley"!!!! She is 2 1/2 now and she has been home with her family since November! From the pictures I have seen and the emails I have received from her sweet Mom, she is doing great!

I will always have a special place in my heart for Miss "Kiley"! She was the first child I ever sponsored at Pearl River! That special day led me to this job, and ultimately to our new daughter. You just never know what's going to happen when you sponsor a Bamboo Baby!

A visit to China and Changsha #1!

Our Pearl River team just returned from a ten day trip to China. The purpose of this trip was to visit the children, meet with the orphanage directors, evaluate our work in each province, and to thank all the foster mom's for the difference they are making in the lives of our Bamboo Babies!

Our team visited the homes of all of the Foster Mother's in Zanjiang and Changsha. Each Bamboo Baby received an Easter basket filled with toys that were developmentally appropriate. All of the foster mom's received training in their homes specific to the child living with them. Time was also spent evaluating living conditions, home safety and the development of each child. Lastly our team hosted appreciation dinners and lunches for all of our foster parents.

It was a worthwhile and productive trip! Thanks to Christina, Julie, Marissa and Shelby for taking the time to truly make a difference!

Two Hengshan Cuties!!!

Finally a post!!!! I am back from China, and life is beginning to fall into a routine at our house! I have kept up on our Pearl River Babies, and we have so many exciting things to share. Christina and Julie have been in Hunan and Guangdong visiting our foster families for the past 10 days. I look forward to sharing photos and highlights of their exciting trip soon!

For now, I wanted to share a photo of two precious Hengshan friends!! One is my new daughter, Sienna, and the other is her very best friend and neighbor from Hengshan, Shaelee, aka "Lindsey". Shaelee was a Pearl River Bamboo Baby until November of 2009. I had the privilege of sponsoring "Lindsey" and it has been a blessing to see how well she is doing home with her amazing forever family!

The story of these two is a miracle! When Shaelee's parents were in Changsha to pick her up, they found out that her very best friend was Xia Chang, my daughter! If you ever want to read the details you can go here. We do not live in the same state, but we plan to get the girls together as much as possible! The next visit is planned for June!

My Goal for our Babies...

Our Bamboo Babies were recently blessed with beautiful hand sewn quilts from a special worldwide organization, named The Relief Society. Their motto is "Charity Never Faileth." Women from 18+ are members. This specific fabulous group of women is in Lawton, Oklahoma. Many of these special ladies are Army Wives, stationed at Fort Sill, OK.

I can not finish 2009 without thanking all of our Bamboo Baby Sponsors. You have generously given our children hope and love this year! We go into 2010 in a wonderful position to take care of our children. We are working towards adding to our staff on the ground in China which has been a goal for a long time! So, thank you for your support, and for spreading the word about our precious children and our program.

As we begin the new year we only have 7 open sponsor spots. Which is truly wonderful news. I believe with your help we can fill this need. Remember it costs $35.00 per month to sponsor a Bamboo Baby. Today I opened up me email to see this little cutie!!!! She is one of our newest Bamboo Babies, and her name is Gwynne! She was born on April 8, 2008 so she is a little over 1 1/2 years old.

I am in love with her adorable curls!!!!

Gwynne needs three new sponsors to help her get the care and love she needs! We are very excited to have Gwynne as part of our Pearl River program in Hunan.

An Angel Named Ms. Meng...

Today we want to introduce you to one of our favorite people at Pearl River Outreach, Ms. Meng! She is responsible for overseeing our children that reside in Changsha #1 and The Hengshan SWI. Ms. Meng has been a nurse for 32 years, specializing in Internal Medicine! From what I understand she is a confident, hard working dynamo, that makes sure our children are getting the love, and care they deserve! She will tell you that the hardest part of her job is worrying that the children are all healthy and safe. She visits each family at least once a month, and makes sure the foster families are doing their part to take care of their babies!

Ms. Meng does all of the training for our foster families in Hunan. She has been working with families personally for eight years. When she visits our Bamboo Babies she observes them in their environment, and makes sure the conditions in which they are living are acceptable. When she sees things are not what they should be, she works with our families to correct it. Ms. Meng also works directly with both or our affiliated orphanages to maintain a great working relationship!

Training the Foster Parents

When we asked Ms. Meng what she likes best about her job, she replied: "I like visiting families very much. And, I really enjoy watching the children as they grow up and get adopted by their forever families!"

"Lindsey's" Home!!

I can't think of a better gift than seeing our Bamboo Babies home with there Forever Families. Precious "Lindsey" in our Hengshan program, met her Mom, Dad, and big sister in Changsha, Hunan on November 9th. She had just turned four a few days earlier! She is now home safely with her four new siblings and the family dog!!

I am blessed to have a personal relationship with this family. And, it all began because or Pearl River. I was Lindsey's sponsor along with three other special families here! I had the privilege to follow along while they were in China meeting Lindsey. I can tell you first hand that our Bamboo Babies program is working! Lindsey's Foster Mom did a wonderful job of loving her and preparing her to be loved by her new family! Her reports always described her as a joy to be with. From these photos, you can see why!

Thank you to her family for their willingness to share these precious photos with us! It's a blessing to know that we at Pearl River, were a part of Lindsey's life while she waited for you!

Today I received an email from one of our sponsors, Debbie. Her precious daughter has been very sick for the past year with a rare form of Aplastic Anemia. While they await news of a potential bone marrow transplant for Hannah, Debbie is thinking of others. She has put together the "Precious Treasures" fundraiser for the Bamboo Babies... Their hearts are so big that they have approached us about blessing 88 orphans in the Changsha Welfare Institute where we have several Pearl River babies. In fact we just received two more babies this week, (new arrival photos coming soon!) We are naming this project "The Meadows Gift of Love Project." The goal is to raise $1000 by December 1st to send out 88 care packages for Christmas to the children. Here is how you can include these kiddos on your Christmas/Holiday list:

The Meadows Gifts of Love!

The photos below, are an example of what happens when a loving group of people come together to bless another. It shows how the gift of love can make the world of difference in the life of an orphan. I wonder what they would say if they truly understood that six special people a world away, planned, prayed over, packed and shipped these special gifts to them. This was a humble act of loving kindness by one of our sponsor familes and their Bible Study Small Group. On behalf of PRO, I personally want to thank you Jennifer, Bridgett, Heath, Roman, Jordan, and Scott!
